Tassel was born out of the passion to provide community connection and support, and the need to shift the way in which we think about burlesque as an art form.

Burlesque is more than just taking your clothes off on stage, it’s a historical art form rich in political satire, parody and important issues. Draped in rhinestones and glamour we can sometimes forget that the body is politics and art takes so many shapes. Passionate that we could put the diversity of burlesque as an art on stage Tassel started as an underground as a show to give space to emerging talent and artistic licence to established performers .

But Tassel has grown to something more, something that is deeply needed. Tassel Events seeks to continue to entertain audiences with glamour and diversity of talent from all stages of the burlesque industry, to uplift and enrich performers lives and experiences through much needed workshops, deep thought and introspection and the basics that sometimes are hard to access.

Tassel runs on the fiery passion for creating positive spaces for burlesque artists and audiences with a zero tolerance policy on bad behaviour, and a deep belief that we need this, to bring joy into our lives.

We are the game changers, the creative revolutionaries here to champion the art of burlesque into a new era while paying homage to the past.

Tassel Event’s director is Domino de Jour, burlesque performer, mentor and artist with over a decade on burlesque stages and 30+ years in the dance world.

Filled with the enduring spirit of ‘ well someone has to do it, it may as well be me’ and the desire to have performers experience the comradery that was felt by her in the early days Tassel was created.

But, Tassel isn’t about our director, it’s about you the audience and you the burlesque performer, we just make things happen.
